[a]The king and his officials and the entire assembly in Jerusalem had agreed to celebrate the Passover in the second month, having been unable to celebrate it at the proper time because the priests had not sanctified themselves in sufficient numbers and the people had not yet assembled in Jerusalem.

The proposal was accepted by the king and all the assembly.
